Summary

Se estudia la relación del cuerno posterior del menisco lateral con el tendón del m. poplíteo en tres especies con distinta forma de marcha (hombre, macaco y oveja). No se han encontrado uniones directas entre ambas estructuras en ninguna de las especies analizadas, por lo que no parece posible que una de las funciones del m. poplíteo sea la de tirar del menisco lateral hacia atrás para evitar su pinzamiento durante el movimiento articular.

Abstract

The relationship between the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus and the m. popliteus tendon has been examined in three species with different gait forms (man, macaque and sheep). No direct unions have been found between the two structures; it thus does not seem possible that one of the functions of the m. popliteus migth be pulling the lateral meniscus backwards in order to prevent it from becoming pinched during articular movement.
