Introducción: la organización de los recursos materiales y humanos es fundamental para conseguir un quirófano más ergonómico.

Objetivos:

• Asegurar la integridad física del paciente
• Reducir el tiempo intraoperatorio
• Reducir la probabilidad de complicaciones intra y postoperatorias

Material y métodos: se practicaron 40 artroscopias entre octubre de 2003 y marzo de 2006, 21 de los cuales eran hombres y 19 mujeres. La media de edad fue de 50 años, predominando el hombro derecho. Aparataje utilizado: dotación básica de quirófano y específico de artroscopia.

Resultados:

• Mejor visibilidad y movilidad del equipo
• Mayor accesibilidad al paciente
• Disminución del tiempo quirúrgico

Conclusión: el incremento de la experiencia en este tipo de intervenciones nos llevó a detectar deficiencias iniciales que han sido subsanadas, consiguiendo mejor rendimiento y calidad asistencial.

Abstract

Introduction: The correct management of material and human resources is fundamental to obtain a more ergonomic operating theatre.

Objectives:

• Guarantee the patient’s physical integrity
• Reduce surgical operating times
• Reduce the possibilities of complications during and after surgery

Method and resources: 40 arthroscopies were performed between October 2003 and March 2006, 21 of which on men and 19 on women. The average age was 50 years, and the operations were performed mainly on the right shoulder. Equipment utilized: basic surgical kit plus specially designed arthroscopy equipment.

Results:

• Better visibility and mobility of the equipment
• Better accessibility to the patient
• Reduction of surgical time

Conclusion: The increase of experience in this type of procedures brought us to become aware of initial deficiencies which have been resolved, obtaining greater results and better quality of care.
