Anterior ankle arthroscopy at its best

The ankle finally returns to REACA in this monograph dedicated entirely to anterior arthroscopy and its applications. We are very proud of the work and thank all the authors who have participated.

Ankle arthroscopy has undergone significant advances in recent years, and this is the main reason why we have dedicated this monograph exclusively to anterior arthroscopy. The indications have been expanded and the techniques have been refined; we thus hope to provide the reader with a comprehensive review of the current possibilities of this arthroscopic approach.

For this monograph I have been able to count on the precious help of Dr. Campillo Recio as guest editor: he dedicates much of his activity to ankle arthroscopy, and is continuously exploring the limits of these techniques.

For the articles included we have had the collaboration of both nationally and internationally renowned authors, as well as of younger foot and ankle surgeons, but with a great predisposition towards arthroscopy. I find the result very interesting, as one can see the contrasts between the views of those who have substantially developed these techniques and those who have adopted and refined them.

These contrasts enrich the assessment of disorders that can be treated by ankle arthroscopy, and remind us of the importance of maintaining a critical attitude towards new techniques and technologies that are being developed at an ever-increasing pace.

With these considerations, we renew the invitation to all those interested in ankle arthroscopy to forward their concerns and papers to REACA, thereby contributing to keep scientific exchange in our community alive and shedding light on areas that still remain in the shadows.
